HubZone Businesses Support Local Communities
The HubZone program was created in 1997 to help develop disadvantaged rural and urban centers. The businesses that receive this certification are actively invested in these communities and employ a significant number of people that live in the surrounding areas.
Administration of the HubZone program is overseen by the Small Business Administration (SBA), and the SBA has established several criteria businesses must meet in order to qualify. Businesses need to:
- Be classified as a small business under the SBA’s standards
- Have majority ownership by U.S. citizens, Community Development Corporations, agricultural cooperatives, or Native American tribes
- Have their principal headquarters located within a “Historically Underutilized Business Zone” (HubZone)
- Have at least 35 percent of their employees living within a HubZone
QT Manufacturing Pursuing an SBA HubZone Certification
QT Manufacturing meets all of the above criteria and is actively pursuing an SBA HubZone certification for small businesses. Certification will allow the company to qualify for certain federal and other contract and subcontract work, which will let QT Manufacturing better serve a wider array of customers.
More importantly, however, obtaining this certification will serve as evidence we are committed to serving the historically underutilized communities in Dallas.
